Feasibility and contract testing

Contract R&D by ILS
Feasibility Testing

ILS has the unique ability to help you de-risk large capital investments in high-risk R&D equipment.

We do this by mutually agreeing on the most technically-challenging parts of the R&D solution and testing these in our in-house R&D testing laboratories. Typical examples of this include high-pressure/low-flow/viscous-liquid dosing, testing limits of reactor minimization or unique reactor concepts. By identifying and mitigating flaws as early as possible ILS can provide a huge leveraging effect to insure the success of the approach in question or provide our clients with an early, and low-cost exit from an investment in a solution, which may not work for the chemistry in question.

Benefits

Feasibility testing provides a convenient way to minimize risks to our clients whilst still providing the maximum flexibility to explore the newest possible technical solutions.

Think out of the box

A competitive edge often requires pushing existing boundaries. Conservative design is safe, but often limits the researcher. so feasibility studies make “out of the box” approaches possible with minimal risk to our clients.

Succeed or Fail Quickly

We can design, construct and execute feasibility studies in 6 months or less which means the client gets a quick answer on what approach can best be taken for the project in question.

Minimise Cost

The simplified design approach means that a minimal CAPEX investment is required by our clients. Fast execution results resulting in a short feasibility time and minimal project cost to our client.
Contract R&D Testing

Our offerings in the area of contract R&D testing services are a natural evolution from our 10 years of experience in custom R&D system design.

ILS has recognized that there is a real need in industry to realize step-change process performance inputs in as short a time as possible to give them a competitive edge.

We have responded to this need by providing an uncomplicated service-offering capable of RAPIDLY testing large numbers of catalysts in short, easily-realized projects.

Our Expertise

Due to the high-level of technical understanding of catalyst R&D testing at ILS and the location in a state-of-the-art laboratory we can quickly generate high-quality data on highly-customised equipment with on- and off-line analytics in a fraction of the time and cost it often takes to do this at larger companies. This dramatically lowers the barrier to entry into high-throughput testing capabilities for our clients giving them access to personnel and technology that can enable them to generate materials IP on a much shorter time-scale than their competitors.

Our Process

Project durations can rank anywhere from 2 months to multiple years depending on the level of commitment required by the client. The highly-trained staff at ILS (50% MS/PhD Engineers & Chemists) can provide the key input required to insure proper experimental design and data interpretation to make sure you generate as much knowledge as possible in the shortest time possible from the large data sets, which our automated R&D testing systems can provid

Benefits

Cheaper and more Flexible

Outsourcing catalyst testing represents a way to minimize long-term cost without compromising on quality.

Faster

Performing testing programs on existing ILS platforms or letting us quickly build a custom skid for you, means you get faster access to the data you need.

Unbiased

ILS has nothing to gain from one catalyst being better or worse than another so we provide you with completely unbiased R&D results to help you chose the best catalysts for your application.
Chemical Validation Testing

Every R&D researcher wants a turn-key R&D testing solution that can immediately be started up and begin generating results.

This can only be done if the supplier can do the actual chemistry with client catalyst samples prior to delivery. ILS can provide exactly this. Let us chemically validate your unit before delivery insuring seamless integration of on- and off-line analytics on a unit that demonstrates smooth, uninterrupted 24/7 data generation. This is a unique opportunity as well for clients to obtain valuable training prior to actually receiving the unit insuring a faster commissioning after delivery.

Benefits

Investment in an R&D testing unit always involves intrinsic risks. The more challenging or novel the chemistry, the higher the risk involved. Chemical commissioning testing provides a convenient way to minimize risks to our clients insuring they get a truly turn-key solution.

Minimize Cost

By minimizing the amount of OPEX and CAPEX required for starting up the unit on-site, chemical validation results in a clear cost savings to our clients. The more complicated the chemistry or unit the bigger the savings.

Time Savings

Modifications can be done faster at ILS than in your laboratories, and our processes are often shorter than those of big companies. Every day saved is less money invested in commissioning and more time invested in generating results.

Best Data Quality

The unit is only delivered after the client has verified that the results are equal to, or better, than what was specified. This ensures 100% data quality will be obtained after delivery of the unit to our clients.
