Our Story

ILS was founded in 2005 by Dr. Anton J. Nagy with an unconventional initial investment: €50,000 from his grandparents, Croatian refugees from World War II. The company started in the Gründergallerie, a Berlin-based initiative for neighborhood development.
Initially, ILS collaborated with partners in Switzerland and the Netherlands but gradually moved all production and automation to Berlin. A major milestone was the opening of our own R&D testing laboratory with an assembly workshop in 2016.
ILS has grown sustainably and independently—without government subsidies or venture capital. Our focus is on long-term success, customer satisfaction, and a strong team.

Our Founder

Dr. Anton Nagy

Dr. Anton J. Nagy, born in 1970 in the Chicago area, studied chemical engineering in the U.S. before gaining initial experience as an intern at Shell in Amsterdam. In the late ‘90s, he completed his PhD in heterogeneous catalysis at the Max Planck Institute in Berlin.
After working at Bayer on microreaction technology and automation, and later at the startup Avantium in Amsterdam, he decided to combine his passion for catalysis with his love for Berlin. This led to the founding of ILS as a specialized catalyst testing service provider with unique capabilities.
